Training on AI-Powered Plastic Waste Sorting and Development of Sustainable Biofibre Composites
The University of Rwanda and the University of Nairobi are jointly implementing an innovative research project to address plastic waste, underutilized agricultural residues, and food-processing residues, transforming them into high-value biofibre-reinforced composite materials for sustainable construction. The project is led by Prof. George Rading, alongside Senior Lecturers Dr. Maxime Binama and Dr. Celestin Nkundineza, and Lecturer Dr. Gaudence Nyiranzeyimana, and Assistant Lecturer Vincent Niyigaba, with participation from stakeholders including Deacomart Ltd.Together, the project aims to reduce pollution, promote a circular economy, and build lasting research collaboration and capacity across Africa.
